A Mother and Son start collecting!
Pocket Money started pretty simply - a mum (Amy) and son (Willon) getting completely pulled into the world of Pokémon cards together. What began as hunting for a few cool cards quickly turned into pack openings, learning card values, meeting collectors, trading at local markets, and discovering how huge (and sometimes confusing) the hobby can be.
We realised there was room for something a bit different in New Zealand. A place that felt safe, welcoming, and community-focused, especially for younger collectors and parents trying to navigate the hobby for the first time. The Pokémon world can be amazing, but it can also feel a little overwhelming or untrustworthy at times — so we wanted to create a space where people could buy, sell, trade, and chat with confidence.

Embracing nerdiness!
We love the nostalgia, the artwork, and the stories behind every card. From childhood favourites pulled from old binders to modern chase cards that have seen better days, we're passionate about helping collectors preserve and improve the cards they care about most.
Pocket Money is an Auckland-based Pokémon card restoration and collection care studio. We specialise in card assessments, restoration of creases, dents and binder damage, and helping collectors understand the condition and potential of their cards before grading or selling.
Built by collectors, for collectors, we're always happy to chat cards, restoration possibilities, and the best way to bring a well-loved collection back to life.
"It can be a worrisome place out there in the collecting space so we hope to be able to instill some trust and community spirit!"
